Cocktail of The Month: Samu-Roy

Posted on 18th November 2016

Here's to Winter. Here's to sipping smoky whisky cocktails on cold, frosty nights that are slowly slipping into darkness. The Rob Roy cocktail normally would have you reaching for a peated Scotch, but with the Samu-Roy we're letting in some some warm sun rays from Japan with Nikka.

The Nikka Pure Malt range is a collection of malt whiskies that is produced at both of Nikka's distilleries: Yoichi and Miyagikyo. Created to showcase the quality of whisky produced at each distillery, the range's other aim is to highlight the skill of Nikka's blending team.

Nikka Pure Malt Black was selected for the Samu-Roy cocktail as its subtle peat notes gives a nod to Scotland's smoky malts, all whilst maintaining the soft fruit associated with, and much loved by, those who adore Japanese whisky.

Ingredients:

45ml Nikka Pure Malt Black
15ml Cocchi Vermouth di Torino
3 dashes Walnut bitters
5ml Shaoxing Rice Wine

A blade of orange zest.
