A. E. Dor Number 8

A. E. Dor Number 8 bottle

70cl, 47% ABV

Another fantastic example of Grand Champagne Cognac at its very best. 40 years of ageing in humid cellars has created a truly wonderful Cognac with great finesse and balance despite its relatively high ABV.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Thick toffee and stewed raisins to start, followed by hints of sweet vanilla, spicy baked apple, cinnamon buns and freshly baked pastry. Underneath the sweeter flavours lies a layer of rich and savoury leather.

Palate

Softer and sweeter than the nose suggests, with buttery caramel-topped apples to start. Then the sharper, spicier and weightier notes appear – freshly ground cinnamon, rich earth, damp leaves and sticky raisins.

Finish

Spiced bread fading through stewed fruit to a menthol-tinged end.

Comment

Dark and rich, with sweet fruit as the dominating character. It’s surprisingly fresh, but has deep layers of well-developed and long-aged flavour.
