Tasting Notes

Nose

Rich and chocolatey, with bitter, molasses, treacle toffee and chocolate-covered Rice Krispie treats. Fruitier notes develop – singed raisins, plump and juicy raisins, and intensely flavoured currants. Spiced caramel sauce – nutmeg and cinnamon – sits underneath.

Palate

Thick, sweet and juicy to start, with a wave of tannic grapes quickly rolling in, accompanied by intense oaky spice and raisin juice. Candied ginger, malt loaf and raisin jam build behind, with balancing bitter barrel char and sweet liquorice. Water softens the spice and intensifies the raisin notes, spreading fruit leather with sweet jam.

Finish

Spicy, with hot cinnamon fading to reveal raisin-studded baked apples, dark chocolate and liquorice.

Comment

An intense ride through sherry matured whisky, veering from chocolate to dried fruit with a core of spice and oak.
