Riserva La Venaria Reale

Riserva La Venaria Reale bottle

75cl, 18% ABV

Riserva La Venaria Reale is the new vermouth created in the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Giulio Cocchi winery. It is a vermouth in the style of the former kingdom of Piemonte, result of an unique partnership with Reggia di Venaria and released, in this first edition, in just 1891 bottles.
Recipe, selection of botanicals, long maturation: every element has been carefully reasoned and selected for historical and geographical consistency.

“Reserve” does not mean aging in barrels, which would affect the complex aromatic balance in favor of oxidation and tannin components, but the valorization of the formula and the savoir faire in production.
Cocchi Vermouth Riserva La Venaria Reale has, in fact, a strong local and historical identity – Piedmontese wine, erbs from the Alps – recalling the essential role played by the House of Savoy in the diffusion of the modern Vermouth.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Rich and fruity, with citrus notes, thick dried fruit and fresh berry fruit complemented by leafy herbs. Sour cherries build, with a touch of balsamic and layers of spice.

Palate

Thick, with well-balanced sweetness – rich and warming, with light and sweet fruit dancing on top of a sea of bittersweet herbs and dried fruit. Earthy liquorice root and cherry menthol lie underneath, with orange and lemon peel on top.

Finish

Long and fruity, with herbal notes building as the fruit fades.

Comment

A fresher and more herbal take on the classic Cocchi style which still maintains the Vermouth di Torino’s richness while adding Alpine character.
