From 6 June until 8 July 2026 Tokyo Nights will bring Sumo wrestling and Nikka whiskies together for the first time at London's Borough Hall in Greenwich.

Nikka Whisky has become the exclusive whisky supplier and sponsor of brand-new event 'Tokyo Nights', an immersive, theatrical, and cultural experience that brings together the best of Sumo and authentic Japanese gastronomy.

The first ever 'Tokyo Nights' will take place on 6 June 2026 and promises guests an evening of immersive sporting spectacle, theatre and interactive food and drink, all inspired by the streets of Tokyo. Each night, Japanese culture fans and newcomers will come together to discover specially organised bouts of the iconic Japanese sport, which rarely takes place outside its home country.

This is the first time Nikka Whisky has partnered with an event of this size in the UK with the relationship aiming to celebrate tradition, expertise and craft with entertainment.

The Nikka whisky experience will include a special cocktail menu and whisky tasting for VIP guests. Attendees will be able to enjoy a range of Nikka whiskies, including Nikka Whisky From The Barrel and Nikka Taketsuru with dinner. Highballs served in bottled cocktails will be available to order and enjoy during the sessions. These include Ginza Velvet Highball a refined whisky highball made of Nikka Days, Coconut, Melon, Citrus Cream Soda Syrup. The cocktail is inspired by the luxury Ginza area famed for its vibrant nightlife.

Over the last few years, the UK has seen an increased interest from consumers in anything related to Japan and the brand has built a strong reputation with fans of world whiskies. Nikka has been increasing its presence in the UK market over recent years. It recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of Nikka Whisky From the Barrel alongside a new grocery listing at Sainsbury's.
