Elixir Distillers reawakens 'The Pearl of Speyside' with a core range of three fruit-forward single malt expressions.

Tormore Distillery is entering a new chapter as owners Elixir Distillers present the first permanent range of three single malt whiskies – Tormore 'Timeless', Tormore 12 Year Old and Tormore 16 Year Old Sherry Cask.

Since it started production in 1959, Tormore has been known for its elegant and refined character, offering, at any age, bright notes of pear, peach, stone fruits and gentle nutty richness, something that both enthusiasts and experienced drinkers will cherish. Though for decades, Tormore spirit remained largely hidden within some of the world's most beloved blended whiskies, and few people realise the many great intentions of the past for the distillery to produce its own single malt whiskies. Today, Tormore's fruit-filled and elegant Speyside single malt whisky is given a new lease of life in the form of three fruit-forward expressions designed to be enjoyed by everyone.

Launching on Monday 15 June, the range represents the first ever official permanent line-up from Tormore, following the success of the limited series of 'Blueprint' and 'Legacy' in 2025, which were designed to give a hint of what was to come.

With the distillery under Elixir Distillers' stewardship since 2022, distillery manager Polly Logan along with head blender Oliver Chilton and co-owner Sukhinder Singh, have taken time to look back through stocks to understand how they can be enhanced, and brought to life as single malts, through careful re-casking into fresh bourbon barrels and a variety of sherry casks. The result is a line-up of whiskies that are unmistakably Tormore while presenting a new era of this iconic distillery.

Tormore 'Timeless' – Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky – 43% / RRP £41.95

A non-age statement whisky predominantly matured in bourbon casks that let the spirit shine, with a touch of sherry cask ageing for additional structure. Older vintages add richness and structure while younger expressions bring waves of fresh fruity flavours: fresh vanilla and lemon zest notes meet sweet spice and honeysuckle with peach tea. Light, elegant and a joy to drink with friends, whether neat, over ice or in highballs.

Tormore 12 Year Old – Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky – 46% / RRP £54.95

A harmonious marriage of bourbon, cream sherry and toasted white American oak casks, with a slightly creamier mouthfeel; beautiful texture on the palate builds to layers of flavour from the variety of casks used. Think peach cobbler with custard, soft spice mingled with notes of vanilla fudge, poached pears and cream. Toasted almonds and coconut build to a gently warming finish. An elegant sipper for both connoisseurs and new whisky drinkers.

Tormore 16 Year Old Sherry Cask – Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky – 46% / RRP £79.95

Gentle wood influence from refill American and European oak casks allows the spirit's character to shine through, with a little extra maturation in a variety of sherry casks for subtle complexity and full, fruity flavour. Cream Sherry lends a softer profile with hints of jammy sweetness, while Oloroso brings light, nutty notes. These layers of flavour and structure present a beautifully balanced sherry style that respects the pure, fruity characteristics of Tormore. Spiced buttered brioche leads to sticky dates, demerara fudge and lemon oil. This is Tormore made for timeless indulgence.

Head blender Oliver Chilton comments: "When Elixir Distillers became custodians of this Speyside icon, we were enamoured by the history and heritage of the light but fruit-forward spirit as well as the brilliant people that make it. We didn't want to overshadow its wonderful character but instead enhance the distillery's natural personality using careful cask selection to allow Tormore to shine as Single Malt again and be the best representation of its community."

When it comes to the future, distillery manager Polly Logan is also working to preserve but enhance that distillery character. "We've been making small yet effective tweaks to our processes to ensure the spirit we produce today makes the whisky we want for the future. We have lengthened the fermentation time, carefully selected new yeast strains and slowed distillation. All deliberate small tweaks that are helping us maintain all those bright peach and pear notes, and give us spirit that works in perfect harmony with our maturation programme."

As one of the pioneers of single malt in the UK through his retail business, co-owner Sukhinder Singh is excited to be putting a hand to his own distillery releases: "For decades now, I've been consulting other distilleries on NPD as well as bringing brand after brand of single malt whisky to the shelves. This is a chance to show what I, and the team, have learnt in that time. To bring Tormore to life as a single malt is something of a dream come true and I can't wait to share it with everyone."

'The Pearl of Speyside'

Designed by renowned architect Sir Albert Richardson, Tormore was built in 1959 as far more than a whisky distillery. It was created as a vibrant village where people and whisky-making could thrive together. Richardson included a village hall and workers' cottages, all decorated with sculpted topiary gardens, a musical clock tower, and even a curling pond. With its eye-catching copper roofs and white-washed walls, along with the unique landscaping, the distillery quickly earned a local reputation as 'The Pearl of Speyside' – a beautiful and welcoming place built around craftsmanship, pride, and community.

That same philosophy has always defined Tormore whisky itself. Quite simply, happy people make great whisky.
