It wasn't until prohibition that 'Gin and Italian', was shortened to 'Gin and It'. Why Italian? Given that the drink demanded sweet Vermouth, one of Italian origin was normally used as they were sweet as opposed to the French dry expressions.

Ingredients

40ml Boatyard Double Gin

40ml Cocchi Vermouth di Torino

Ice

Straight up

Method

Add all ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice, stir it down and serve in a chilled coupe glass, or over ice if in a rocks glass.

Garnish

Orange zest.
