Amrut Single Malt Whisky

70cl - 46% ABV

Amrut Single Malt is a single malt whisky from India made from heritage barley grown in the foothills of the Himalayas in India. Amrut has been producing single malt whisky in Bangalore since 2002. The whiskies produced here are subject to intense heat during the maturation due to the tropical climate of the region, which means that the whiskies reach maturity three-to-four times faster than in Scotland however the angel’s share can be as high as 15%. Amrut Single Malt is a rich and complex whisky with notes of dark chocolate, malt milkshake, tropical fruits and baking spices. It’s ideal neat or mixed in cocktails like the Manhattan or whisky sour.

Tasting Notes

Sweet, with candy necklaces and Love Hearts joined by honeysuckle and a gentle touch of sour lemon. Notes of apple develop – both sweet and floury apples as well as intensely flavoured boiled sweets.

An initial creaminess is swept into the background by sweet and sour fruit – apples, crunchy pears, unripe pineapple, mango and hints of banana. Sharp clove spice sits behind that, with tannic fruit skin dryness at the very back.

Very long. Sweet and grainy, with damp leaves and liquorice.

Fresh and fruity, but with enough darkness and spice behind to make this an excellent all-round whisky.
