Kavalan Concertmaster is a truly unique and exceptional single malt whisky, made using traditional methods in the north east of Taiwan and finished in Port casks to add layers of complexity. The port barrique influence mellows the flavours and adds a fantastic smoothness to the whisky. It is also full of notes of warm spices, baked apple, cinnamon and vanilla custard.

Tasting Notes
Nose
Initially very rich, with manuka honey, candy floss, sugared raisins and vanilla sugar. Lighter, fruity notes develop, including mango and sweet apple.
Palate
Weighty and spicy, with sharp clove and cinnamon notes leading to rich and sweet centre of stewed and dried fruit. The lighter notes found on the nose slowly develop on the palate, with sweet and sour apples and tropical notes making an appearance.
Finish
Medium in length, with soft fruit turning towards vanilla, cream and spice.
Comment
While the port finish has added the rich, dark fruit notes that you’d expect, the core Kavalan flavour is still there, providing a backbone.
