Tasting Notes
Nose
Intense fruit – concentrated pineapple, apple, pear and mango, with sharp candied fruit notes hiding behind. Resinous oak notes develop, along with vanilla and fragrant incense.
Palate
Softer than expected from the nose, with oaky spice and sweet pineapple up front. The fruitiness softens and spicy oak rolls in alongside sweet vanilla. As the sweetness fades, fragrant citrus and spiced cake batter appear, with fruit skin, aniseed and touches of damp oak.
Finish
Soft spice, butter and sponge cake slowly fade to anise and apple pip bitterness.
Comment
A fragrant and intensely fruity whisky that is reminiscent of the incense-laden style of some Japanese whiskies.
