Tasting Notes
Nose
Classic bourbon cask notes - vanilla, coconut and a hint of citrus zest. That’s joined by uncooked sponge cake mix, spicy cinnamon, caramelised bananas, and sweet and sour tropical fruit.
Palate
Initially dry and very spicy, with clove and cinnamon dominating. Sweet caramel, apple, thin custard and lemon sherbert provide a contrast, which is enhanced by a drop of water - more fruit, including tropical touches, and a hint of menthol.
Finish
Long and lingering, with lemon-infused butter fading to a dry and spicy end. Water shortens the experience, but adds more fruit.
Comment
A punchy cask-strength dram that works both with and without water, depending on the occasion. A pure expression of Kavalan’s core character.
