Black Tot Master Blender's Reserve 2021

Black Tot Master Blender’s Reserve is a special limited release to celebrate Black Tot Day which started with the Black Tot 50th Anniversary rum released in July 2020, a truly momentous moment and the start of something special.

The releases takes inspiration from the original Naval Blending styles where the vats were constantly being topped up with an ever-evolving blend of rums from all around the globe since its inception in the early 1800’s, creating a one-of-a-kind rum. In keeping with this practise not all of the Master Blenders Reserve releases are bottled, some of it is re-racked and forms the base of the following release, creating an ever evolving and complex perpetual blend of fine rums, much like the British Navy did for centuries.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Cinnamon, browned butter, nutmeg and clove, followed by overripe mango, baked banana and dark chocolate. Citrus builds with satsuma and fresh orange, alongside nectarine, cooked honey, mint and lemon thyme.

Palate

Concentrated orange and mango juice with fresh mint and golden brown sugar, developing into milk chocolate, salted caramel, guava and passion fruit, with orange blossom and runny honey.

Finish

Clementine and mandarin with a drying herbal edge of thyme and oregano, ending with a faint oily, diesel-like note.

A funky, fruit-driven inaugural release with pronounced tropical citrus, sweet spice and darker chocolate notes.
